$1,000 Scholarship available to any OIF/OEF Veteran/Military/Spouse!
A generous private donor is providing three $1,000 scholarships for 2011/2012. Two scholarships are for veterans/military service members who were deployed for Operation Enduring Freedom (Afghanistan) and Operation Iraqi Freedom (Iraq). One $1000 scholarship will be for a military spouse who's partner was deployed to the OEF/OIF theatres of action.
The 2011/2012 OEF/OIF Scholarship is to provide financial assistance to United States armed forces personnel or their spouses who served in Operation Enduring Freedom or Operation Iraqi Freedom who are/will be full-time students at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor for the 2011/2012 academic year. The scholarship is a general scholarship and NOT tuition specific.
How to apply
Applicants must submit the Fall Semester 2011 OEF/OIF Scholarship Application with the following documentation
Copy of DD-214 of military person who served
Documentation of service of military member in OEF/OIF.
Applications are due no later than July 29, 2011 at 5:00 pm – late applications will not be reviewed.

Service Members of the United States Military who served in Afghanistan or Iraq or contiguous air space as defined in federal regulations on or after October 24, 2001 for Afghanistan or March 19, 2003 for Iraq. You or your spouse must have served at least 60 days in either conflict or have been released from deployment due to a disability or injury if prior than 60 days.
You must be enrolled, full-time, in a degree granting course of study at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
Three (3) $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to selected participants. The Office of New Student Programs will review all applicants and award the scholarships based on the merits presented in the application. Two (2) scholarships will be awarded to veterans/military members and one (1) scholarship will be awarded to a spouse of a veteran/military member who served in OEF/OIF. All award decisions are final.
Eligible Applicants who are awarded the OIF/OEF scholarship will be notified of the award in writing. In order to accept the award the recipient must provide the Office of New Student Programs an acceptance letter within 5 business days after notification is received. Written acceptance must include a thank-you letter to the donor.
