Important: Please read the Certification Policies and Procedures to understand how you can best utilize your Veteran Benefits.
Submit the following to the Veteran Certification Department:
Apply online through the VA website for education benefits – Form 22-1990.
Once your application is reviewed, the VA will issue a certificate of eligibility to qualified individuals. The certificate will contain basic eligibility information including months of entitlement, period of eligibility and benefit level.

Apply online through the VA website for education benefits – Form 28-1900
After your eligibility has been determined, a VR&E counselor will be assigned to you. If you have any questions before then, please contact the Department of Veterans Affairs-VR&E Detroit Regional Office at 313-471-3800.
Submit the Veterans Certification Request Form to the Veteran Certification Department, once registered. This form must be submitted each semester you wish to receive benefits.
Your VR&E Counselor may request academic information such as an academic degree plan, accepted transfer credits, required prerequisite courses, and credits required for degree completion. Please contact your school or college academic advising office for this information.
Once registered, you may access your U-M degree audit report by logging in to Wolverine Access. Go to Student Center, then Academics, and select My Academics. From there, choose “View My Advisement Report”.
